I have worked at Quay for 15+ years, focusing primarily on product development and technical support aspects of quality control. Although initially working with an analytical skill set, I’ve had the opportunity to expand into formulation, overseeing the development of diverse dosage forms such as oral tablets/capsules, oral suspensions, oral gels, topical delivery, pessaries and proof of concept inhalation solutions.

Although I also have experience with many small molecule drug products, most projects I currently work on are microbial therapeutics or biologics such as phages, virus-like particles, peptides and proteins. These require various processing techniques, particularly regarding environmental controls for manufacture, targeted delivery systems and careful excipient selection. In addition, I have become versed in specialised analytical techniques which are not typically employed for small molecule drug products, such as cell counting by haemocytometer (with Live/Dead fluorescence staining), plate counting of colony forming units, SEC, ion-exchange chromatography, and digital PCR.
